There’s a reason why Grace Bay Beach in the Turks & Caicos continues to be recognized as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Okay, maybe there are multiple reasons – the powdery white sand beaches, the serene turquoise waters, the laid-back vibe of the island, or maybe it’s the tranquility. Heck, maybe it’s the tropical drinks. No matter the reason, it’s the perfect spot for a girlfriends’ getaway. You’ll find some totally zen activities like beach yoga and relaxing spa treatments, or if adventure is more your style, there’s paddle boarding over lemon sharks and snorkeling the iconic turquoise waters.
5 Things To Do in the Turks & Caicos

1. Kayak or SUP through the mangroves
Book through Total Adventure Co. to go kayaking or supping, but choose your vessel of choice carefully as you’ll often find lemon sharks beneath you (no worries, this area is the ‘nursery’ for these sharks so they’re all babies). You’ll find some great spots to stop and enjoy a bottle of wine and picnic lunch in the crystal clear shallow waters. There’s a lot of wildlife to take in, from laughing seagulls to sea turtles to different schools of fish.

2. Take a Luxury Sail
Take a luxury sail through the Caicos Cay island chain with Sun Charter’s Sail and Snorkel Tour. You’ll stop to snorkel at Pelican Reef (part of the world’s third largest Barrier Reef) before arriving at Ft. George Cay where the sandbar is the perfect spot for beachcombing and hunting for sand dollars.

3. Eat Island Food
If it’s Thursday, there’s a beach party! Known as the weekly “Fish Fry” among locals, this pop-up street market is lined with food and cocktail vendors serving up local favorites. It’s also a great spot to buy local artisan crafts. Perhaps the most recommended dining spot on Turks & Caicos is Da Conch Shack, a casual beach cafe serving island favorites like conch fritters, conch chowder, curried conch, and local rum punch. Cocovan is a tropical food truck…or a food truck in the tropics.

4. Pet the Island Dogs at Potcake Place
If you’re missing your pup back home, no worries! Potcake Place is a local rescue organization and you can help socialize the dogs by visiting or taking them on beach walks. Here’s the story of potcake dogs according to Potcake Place: “Potcake is the name given to the dogs of the Bahamas and the Turks & Caicos Islands. It came about because the locals fed the caked remains of the cooking pot to the dogs. As generations have passed, Potcakes have evolved into a breed which is extremely smart, loyal and loving. Potcakes are rescued from around the islands of the Turks & Caicos. Litters of puppies as well as individual pups are found wandering without their littermates. They may be found by tourists while they are out exploring, or locals in their backyard or while working on construction sites. Potcakes can range between 35 and 75 lbs., but most grow to be approximately 45 lbs. The size of their paws as a puppy gives you a good idea as to how large they will grow.”
